The Seychelles Islands

The Seychelles islands take their name from that of the French minister for finance during the reign of Louis XV. Viscount Moreau de Seychelles. The archipelago of the Seychelles is situated in the western part of the Indian ocean, between latitude; 4° and 10° south and between longitude 46° and 56° east. The capital Victoria is situated on the main island, Mahe. It is 1759km east of Mombassa (Kenya). 3255km from Bombay (India) 1776km from Port-Louis (Mauritius) and 930km from Madagascar. There are 115 islands: 41 granitic and 74 coralline plus about 30 named rocks and they can be divided as follows;
